Colleen Surmay
MSN, CPNP-PC

Hello! I’m Colleen Surmay, a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner with more than a decade of experience caring for children, adolescents, and young adults, with a particular focus on athletes with eating disorders, disordered eating, and Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs).

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Dr. Katherine Hill for more than a decade at Stanford, Equip Health, and now, AthleatMD. My clinical experience includes medical evaluation and management of young people with eating disorders and REDs, as well as caring for athletes navigating the complex intersection of nutrition, growth and development, hormonal health, and athletic performance. I’m passionate about providing thoughtful, evidence-based medical care while helping athletes and families understand their health and feel empowered throughout the recovery process.

My clinical approach recognizes that athletes require care that addresses both their medical needs and their goals in sport. I enjoy working collaboratively with athletes, families, dietitians, mental health providers, and other members of the care team to support recovery, restore health, and help athletes safely return to the activities they love.

Outside of clinical care, I’m a lifelong multisport athlete and registered yoga teacher. I currently enjoy trail running, yoga, golf, and CrossFit, and I’ve completed numerous half and full marathons as well as a 200-mile relay. I’m also a mom to a preschooler and love trying new recipes, reading, and getting outside with my family.
